The Right Opportunity

I posted these two doodles (above) a few days ago on my Instagram page and decided to share it here today with you. We are all looking for the ‘right opportunity’. The opportunity that matches our talents, abilities, passions, interests, skills and experiences. The opportunity that opens the door to other opportunities. Benjamin Disraeli once said that the “one secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes.” Disraeli was British Prime Minister twice in the 1800s.

There is always that sense of impatience and frustration when getting ready for the right opportunity. There is the fear that the right opportunity will not show up or you have already missed it and someone else has seized it. You can’t afford to let impatience, frustration and fear derail your prepartion. It is better to be prepared and not get the opportunity than to be unprepared and miss the opportunity.

When the right opportunity eventually comes, there is an instinctual recognition; a feeling that this is what I have been waiting for. Preparation meets opportunity and there is a warm embrace.

I haven’t blogged in a long time but plan to be a bit more consistent for the rest of 2017. I have been using Instagram a lot in the last few months to improve my visual storytelling skills. I recently bought a Canon 1300d to help me do exactly this.

I will be sharing more about this process in future posts. Check out my Instagram page and follow me if you like what you see.
